Function-Based Rehabilitation
Active care and/or function-based rehabilitation are terms that describe different ways of restoring proper functioning to the body’s stabilizing muscles and joints. It is a very important part of the experience you’ll receive at Discover Chiropractic.
Dr. Kawa’s primary job is to find the underlying source of your body malfunction and develop plans to fix these issues. To do this, he uses specific tests that show where the body is malfunctioning. These tests can help pinpoint the true source of the problem. For instance, muscle strength testing can show which muscles are no longer contracting properly and are weak due to lack of conditioning or imbalance.
The two main areas of concern are usually the neck muscles due to forward head posture and the low back core muscles due to weakness and poor posture. Another key issue are muscle imbalances where a muscle on one side of the body is contracting fine and the corresponding one on the other side is tight. These imbalances must be addressed before optimal functioning can be restored.
