Arthritis in Brick

What Causes Arthritis

Degeneration of the joints, commonly called arthritis, is one of the most common conditions plaguing adults. It is a direct effect of the following conditions, either alone or in combination.

  • Excessive joint motion: When a joint in the spine becomes fixated (stuck), the vertebrae above and below the fixated area start to move too much. Over time, this will create a “wear and tear” phenomenon which leads to calcium deposition and other signs of joint erosion.
  • Chronic inflammation: When a joint in the body is under stress, this signals the release of inflammatory chemicals. Often times this situation becomes chronic. This is why once you get arthritis, you have to manage it properly with expert chiropractic care and nutrition.
  • Vertebral Subluxations: A vertebral subluxation is a term that describes when a spinal bone is “pulled” out of its normal position by a muscle and gets stuck out of place. If uncorrected, this mis-aligned vertebral joint will eventually degenerate due to the lack of blood flow, disc fluid, etc.
  • Autoimmune Reactions: These days, due to poor diets, stress and lack of nutrition, many people find themselves in a situation where their body’s immune cells are attacking their own joints. Rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis are examples of this type of condition

What You Can Do
